Jan Day grew up in Cuba, Illinois, an island in the middle of cornfields, but always dreamed of traveling to far off places, just like the Pirate Pink. Jan Day has worked a variety of jobs in a variety of places. Day worked as a Social Worker in New York City. Day was a flight attendant for TWA for over ten years and Day worked for a publishing company in New Orleans. Jan Day currently lives in Okeechobee, Florida, surrounded by the ranches and prairies where she set her third book, Kissimmee Pete, Cracker Cow Hunter.
