Jim Morrison was born in December of 1943 in Melbourne, FL. His father was an officer in the Army, so much of Morrison's early life was spent moving from city to city. After graduating high school, Morrison attended St. Petersburg Junior College and transferred to Florida State University. He later dropped out and moved to California where he studied film. Morrison is the author of books of poetry. When Morrison died in Paris in 1971, he was buried in the Poet's Corner of the Pere Lachaise Cemetery.
