Sudye Cauthen is a fifth generation Floridian. Cauthen founded the North Florida Center for Documentary Studies. Cauthen's writing has appeared in such publications as the Chattahoochee Review, Florida Review, International Quarterly, Kalliope, and The New Encyclopedia of Southern Culture. Cauthen's book, Southern Comforts: Rooted in a Florida Place, was awarded the 2007 Bronze Medal in Florida Nonfiction by Florida Book Awards. Cauthen lives on the Suwannee River near White Springs, Florida.
